Hunt Story
This is the first buck I’ve killed on this property, and to say it was a complete adrenaline rush is an understatement. This isn’t the largest buck I’ve ever killed but after babying this property for almost two years, it was such a full-circle moment. I eased in my stand about 30 minutes before daylight and as soon as day broke a small buck walked out and a bigger buck followed. I couldn’t get a good shot on the bigger buck before he disappeared in the creek bottom. At 10:15 I saw him again and still couldn’t get a shot. Then at 10:28 it was my time to take the shot with my 243 Short Mag, dropped him in his tracks. My son was on the way to our hunting camp from Panama City Beach and he couldn’t get there fast enough! I’m not sure if he was more excited or me!
