Two mature does along with their two fawns feed around me from 7:00-8:45 that morning. A spike arrived followed by a young non-typical 8-pointer that I had seen several times after they left. Two mature does came in feeding on acorns. The 8-pointer after 5 minutes started to bump the does. I could see a large deer coming in the distance. Once I saw the buck I knew it was a shooter, but I had not seen, or gotten pictures of this buck. He came in grunting. Once he saw the younger buck he moved towards it with his ears laid back. The buck paused in an opening offering me a shot. The buck dropped within sight. This is my largest buck to date. We have been working over the years to improve the habitat on our land, and this deer proves all of the hours of hard work are paying off.
