It was a windy, overcast morning with rain forecasted to start before daybreak and last most of the day. I was sitting in a stand right beside the creek and had already seen seven does and several smaller bucks, including an 8-point that was chasing a doe around in front of me. The buck I shot came walking down the road toward me following the trail of the hot doe that was being chased by the 8-point. As soon as I saw him, I shot him and he ran about 20 yards and fell. The rain held off until after I had him loaded in my truck and on the way to the processor.
