Hunt Story
I got in the stand at about 5:40 Tuesday afternoon. I had been hearing that the bucks were starting to bump the does, and the pics that were were getting off of the trail cameras were showing signs of swollen necks on the bucks. There was not much moving at all, only squirrels until about 6:30 when I saw the first deer of the evening. It was a doe about 300 yards away. Nothing appeared to be following her. About 10 minutes later I looked up and saw a deer walking toward me that I ranged at 100 yards. I got a good look at him and knew he was a shooter buck that we had on camera. He closed the distance to about 70 yards, and he stopped and was looking my direction. He could have taken one step to the left and would have been gone. I decided to go ahead and shoot him. He dropped right there. He was the biggest body weight deer I've ever harvested at 248 pounds.
