Hunt Story

Quiet until about 9:30 a.m. Saw a spike chasing a doe and grunting. Five minutes later this deer came the same exact route as the spike and doe. Had to make a freehand shot, and the deer ran to the bottom of the hollow and I heard a crash. I waited about 30 minutes before coming down and went to the spot where the deer was when I shot. No blood. As I came downhill in the hollow I saw the deer on the ground but still alive. I shot him again and he succumbed to the shot. The first shot was in the shoulder and it broke his front leg but apparently the bullet shattered before entering the ribcage with little damage to the heart and lungs. The 2nd shot was in the neck. I bought this property 3 years ago and have several good bucks on camera. Chocolate mountain buck!
