I was hunting a small patch of oaks on the edge of a cutover. I hadn't seen a deer until about 7:15. I started catching glimpses of a deer in real thick dog fennel but couldn't make out what it was. Finally he stepped out into the open and gave me a broadside shot at 20 yards. After the shot he bolted out and I thought I heard him crash in the cutover. After getting down there was just a couple of small specks of blood I could find so I called Nick Skinner. His dogs found the deer about 120 yards away.
