Hunt Story

Sunday evening October 11, 2015, I was hunting with my dad on a high rise powerline overlooking a food plot. We got in the stand at 5:30 pm, the wind was calm and the temperature was starting to fall. After about 15 minutes, a button buck came out and kept looking back towards the woods. I told my dad that more deer are coming the way it was acting, sure enough out came a little 4-point. I told my dad I wanted a bigger buck. We watched the two little bucks graze for a few minutes and disappear into the woods. My dad told me to be still and be quiet they may come back out. At 6:15 a nice little 8-pointer came out, and my dad said it's a shooter. We were getting set up and ready to shoot and my dad said wait, big buck. I looked to my left and there he was, a big 8-pointer. I could see his rack shinning at 150 yards. My heart started pounding and I was shaking all over. My dad told me to breath and don't look at his rack. It seemed to take forever until he turned sideways. When he turned, I shot. The buck took off running. My dad asked, "Did you miss?" I said no! We went to where I shot him, and I found blood. I tracked him for about 50 yards and there he lay. I jumped up and down and screamed out in excitement, I did it, I did it!
