Hunt Story
Austin made his first shot at around 75 yards and missed low kicking up dirt. (Buck fever π ) The buck startled and ran but stopped at the tree line, quartering away, at about 200 yards looking back. I told Austin to aim a little high. A took his second shot and hit it. The buck ran back into the woods up a ridge. Not more than a minute passed and the buck came tumbling back down the ridge. I thought the shot placement was too far back and feared the worst that he gut shot it. However, when we dressed it we found that it was a perfect shot straight through the heart and we retrieved the the mushroomed bullet in the front left shoulder. The shot was made from a 10 foot two-person deer stand over a food plot. The rifle used was a Browning X-Bolt Micro Composite in .308 The bullet was Hornady Precision Hunter .308 Win 178gr ELD-X
