Hunt Story
It was my first time on our new lease, got off work and hurried to hang a stand to hunt out of in the evening. After sweating in the high 80s temperatures, I finally got the stand up about 5:30 p.m. and got settled in. Nothing more than a few squirrels were seen throughout the evening. Just before dark, I caught some movement in the edge of the cotton field. The buck began heading across the cotton field after working a scrape line along the edge of the field. As he closed the distance to about 150 yards, I gave him a whistle to stop him, but he continued on. At about 7:10 p.m. I let the shot ring out and dropped him where he stood.
