Hunt Story
The 2022 season I had an encounter with this deer as a 110-inch 8-point. This year he came back around in his summer patterns with two other bucks about 2-3 weeks before opening week. September 9th 5:30am: I decided to get in the stand earlier than usual on the Saturday of opening day. Thinking he would show at any point I stayed in the stand all day. Almost 14 hours, 2 Reese’s, and an Uncrustable later he finally stepped out with his bachelor group in tow at 7:30 p.m. I put a 125-grain G5 Megameat through him behind the shoulder and he crashed about 40 yards. Luckily he ran towards the truck. He weighed around 200 + pounds and I wasn’t in the shape to drag more than 100 yards by myself through fallen trees and hardwoods. He green scored a gross 134 5/8 and net 132 3/8. The good lord blessed me with an opportunity to harvest another mature buck in my home state and first one to share with my new baby boy, Brantlee!
