Hunt Story
We got to Rum Creek WMA about 5 pm on Friday afternoon the 11th of October. My husband and I sat up a ground blind (mind you we were making so much noise) and settled in for the afternoon hunt. No more than 15 minutes passed when I spotted something moving and immediately looked in the scope.... I nudged my husband's arm saying he is big he is big... the buck started coming closer. My husband kept telling me to shoot, but I was having trouble getting comfortable with the shot. The buck started walking from our right to left and stopped broadside at about 70 yards. When I finally shot, the buck kicked and ran straight away from us. We didn't wait very long before going to find him... honestly for a second I didn’t think I hit him but my husband found a drop of blood on a leaf... talk about getting excited!! The blood trail was sparse, but steady. We finally found him after about 30 minutes of looking. The buck made it about 100 yards to the edge of Lake Juliette before piling up. This is only my second deer and by far my biggest.
