Hunt Story
My husband is an avid hunter, and I go with him occasionally, when we have a sitter for our girls. This particular buck has been on camera quite a few times during the season, and we have seen him in afternoon hunts a few times. He showed up on camera during Christmas break, and I told my husband it was time, that deer was going to be mine. There was a storm coming so it was threatening rain, and foggy. After about 30 minutes in the stand, I saw him running through the field. He came to the edge of woods, and was acting like he may could smell us. I got him in view in the scope and all I could see was a tree and a small portion of this left shoulder. I was extremely nervous and my heart was beating out of my chest but I never got shaky. I clicked off the safety and told my husband I was about to shoot. My husband kept telling me to just relax and only shoot if I was ready. I made a perfect shot and killed my first deer, the first deer I had ever even shot at. He ran about 50 yards and dropped. It was a hunt I’ll never forget.
