Hunt Story

Annabelle has been hunting with her father for several years and has witnessed some successful hunts. She has done quite a bit of shooting at the range, but had never attempted to take an animal. This year she decided she was ready to get her first deer. She had a few close calls in the past two sits, but was yet to squeeze the trigger. On the Saturday afternoon following Thanksgiving, Annabelle and her dad got in the stand about 4:15 p.m. with the intent to take the first mature doe or mature buck that presented a shot opportunity. Within a half hour she had made a good shot on a doe at about 60 yards, her first deer. While waiting to retrieve the doe, two small bucks showed up, and then this buck appeared in the edge of the woods at the very back of the food plot. He was standing broadside at 115 yards. She hit the deer in the lungs. He went about 75 yards and piled up; 19-inch inside spread. Certainly a memory that we'll never forget and are thankful for.
