Hunt Story

Had this buck show up on trail camera out of the blue two days before I harvested him. Showed up twice in the middle of the night. The morning I harvested him I had a mature doe feeding around me after daylight. Watched a small buck across the creek before my buck showed himself. Watched my buck work in from 80 yards when I first saw him. Made a big loop around the doe that I had been watching. He got to around 15-20 yards from the doe and grunted and snort-wheezed at her, he jumped a lot and into my shooting window. I let an arrow fly at a 14-yard shot and hit him perfectly in the pocket of the shoulder. He was slightly quartered to me and I hit the back of the heart and liver. He ran 60-70 yards and started to sway and dropped down to the ground. Watched him for roughly 5-10 minutes laying his bed over then lick it back up a couple of times. He managed to get back on his feet and go another 60-80 yards before he hit the creek I was sitting on. He crashed into the creek and tipped over again. It was there he took his last breath and expired in the middle of the creek. A hunt I will never forget and was able to capture it all on film was icing on the cake!
