Hunt Story
We had several trail-cam pictures of this deer. My dad actually had him come into the food plot after shooting light as he was packing up 3 days prior, so we knew he frequented the area. That morning around 10:30, a few hundred yards from the plot, I shot a doe with my bow and think I caught liver and didn't give her long enough before I started tracking (1 hour). I bumped her up twice within 100 yards of the stand. I pulled out and decided to eat lunch and search again around 3:00. After no luck searching for 2 more hours I decided to climb up in the ladder off the food plot for the last hour of light. I climbed into the ladder with 5 does and a 7-pointer out in the plot. This 9-pointer came in off a big creek bottom where there are tons of mature chestnut oaks about 75 yards to my left. I put my 30-30 on his shoulder and he dropped on the spot.
