Hunt Story
People had been seeing this deer in the area heading up the same trail every time. Came through the thick brush early morning, and only had a lane about 6 feet wide when he crossed an old road. I drew my bow as soon as he was about to step out. As soon as he was in the open, I lined up my shot. Right as I released, he took a step; causing the shot to be farther back than I wanted. I checked the arrow and noticed and smelled the gut material on the arrow. I backed out and gave him 6 hours to lay down and die. We went back and looked and ended up bumping the buck. He looked very weak, and I knew he wouldn't be able to survive much longer. We were able to go back later and recover him.
