Hunt Story

After hunting extensively through a hot bow season in hopes of getting a shot at a mature buck, I was only able to take one doe - so I’ve surely been glad to see rifle season get here. After slipping in the stand well after daylight (due to an alarm clock malfunction), I had a pretty slow morning. But with the favorable south wind in my face and confidence that there were mature bucks in the area, I stuck it out. At 9:53 am, it all changed when this big 5-year-old buck we call Wide Brow stepped out. I had to calm myself but finally got a good broadside shot at 150 yards and squeezed it off; he dropped in his tracks! Celebrating with my two guys and seeing how proud they were for me, I was quickly reminded once again as to how much I really love the sport of hunting and all that it takes /comes along with it…even the much-needed patience!
