Hunt Story
I had watched the buck for the previous 2 years and planned to really hunt the buck hard this year having him aged at what I thought to be 5 1/2. I hunted him 5 out of 6 evenings and with him being one of the last bucks still in velvet, he was not mixing in with the other bucks which had shed out already. This particular evening, I had 12-15 deer that had came in and several good bucks eating at the feeder already. While watching some deer to my left, I noticed the deer at the feeder all seem to walk off at the same time. At that time I saw a deer coming from the thick brush and enter into my shooting lane. Seeing the large frame and fuzzy rack, I knew it was the deer I was after and started to try and get my composure together for a possible shot. As I watched him approach to the left of the blind, I raised my bow for the opening I thought he would get to. As he started crossing in front of me, I drew back and stopped him slightly quarting away. As I settled and released, I saw the arrow disappear into his heart area. He gave out a huge mule kick and ran out 30 yards. He began to sway and tumbled over 50 yards from the blind.
