Hunt Story

My daughter Addison, my wife, and I arrived at the blind around 6:30 a.m. on opening morning for Addison's first hunting season. She was very excited and ready to shoot her first deer and hopefully a buck. After getting in the blind and what seemed like the loudest 45 minutes of getting set up ever in my life, we were ready for Addison to begin her hunt. Thinking it would be quite awhile until we would see any activity after all that noise, Addison sat on the ground with her iPad and started to play a few games. I tried my best to spray down with Vapple cover scent and my wife continued setting up the camera for the hunt. Once daylight began to creep in, I used some of my Vapple Apple Attractant and sat back in my chair and said a little prayer that things would as planned and we might see a deer on this hunt. As I sat with my eyes closed my wife tapped me on the arm and said not to move too fast as there was a buck that was a regular about 20 yards away staring at the blind. I told Addison to slowly stand up and get set up on the crossbow and wait for the buck to get into position. The buck read the script perfectly and walked directly to the feeder and presenter her with a broadside shot at 25 yards. I asked Addison if she could see him and if she thought she make the shot. She nodded and before my wife or I could even get ready she sent the crossbow bolt screaming toward the buck making a perfect shot. The buck only ran about 50 into the hardwood bottom before falling. After a celebration filled with hugs and high-fives we went to retrieve Addison's first deer and first buck. As a father and hunter, I will say that this is by far the best hunt I have ever been a part of in my life. Congratulations Addison!
