Hunt Story
I saw several bucks chasing does throughout the morning in the hardwood bottom I was set up in. At 8:45, I noticed a doe about 80 yards away, and as I was standing up, I noticed another deer. When I looked though my binos, I could tell that it was a nice buck behind her. By this point, the doe had closed the distance to 40 yards and soon passed through a shooting lane at 20 yards. Just before the buck got to the shooting lane, I drew my bow. It was calm that morning, so I guess he heard me draw my bow, which caused him to stop a few steps shy of the hole. I kept my eye on the doe, and she had no idea that anything was wrong. I knew that as long as she was calm he wasn't going anywhere. After about a minute, he decided that she was more important and stepped into the clear and my arrow found its mark. I let him lay for about an hour and found him within 75 yards. Perfect hunt!
