Hunt Story

I got to my stand well before sun up. I had no action till about 7:30 am when two little 1 1/2-year-old bucks came out to my left—a 4-point and a spike. So I knew they were moving, and I knew there was a big boy in the area because I saw him about two weeks before chasing does, but I could not get a shot. He had a scrape behind my stand about 60 yards back that he had been checking, so I decided to do a little grunting. I did one grunt sequence with a heavy breeding grunt at the end, and within less than a minute he came tearing off the hill in front of me, jumped the creek and walked 60 yards down the hill from my stand and stopped. He was looking for a fight. When he stopped, I made a good shot, and he raised up on his back legs and fell over dead.... it was a great hunt.
