Hunt Story
While hunting a stand overlooking a food plot on a gasline, a small 8-point came out and fed for a few minutes. As he was leaving, a doe trotted onto the gasline. I kept an eye on her back trail as the small 8-point chased her around the plot for a few minutes. He lost interest and left and she fed for a moment before coming into the woods under me. When she got a few steps into the woods she turned and watched intently in the direction that she had entered the plot. Within a minute I caught sight of antlers moving through the trees. The buck came to the edge of the gasline and looked but wasn’t going to cross. He stood and looked into the plot for a few seconds and turned to leave. I hit him well and he dropped in his tracks. I recognized him from trail cam photos over the summer. His main beams actually cross each other and the bases of his antlers are 7 3/4 inches. Heavy rack and very unique buck.
