Hunt Story

After a busy year of preparing for hunting season, and a lot of patience and persistence since, it all finally paid off on the rainy afternoon of December 21st. I had a chance to leave work earlier than normal, drove the hour to the farm, and slipped in around 5 PM. Misty rain present, walking in I spotted “Ole Bruiser” in a food plot with 4/5 doe. I waited at the base of the stand for what felt like forever trying not to spook them. The mature buck (at least 5-6 year old) walked off into the wood line which gave me the chance to slip up the stand as slowly as I could, get seated, and get my gun into position. Just as I caught my breath l the buck walked back out onto the adjacent food plot. With my heart beating out of control he stood broadside and I took the shot. He was down and I had finally gotten my biggest buck to date… well worth the wait!
