Hunt Story
We were running late to the stand on Tuesday the 22nd and got to the stand about 4:45. We hadn’t been in the stand long when a couple of does and a button head came out into the field. About 5:30 a 7-point came out. While I was looking at him through the binoculars, the buck that I had been looking for all season came out into the pasture instead of the hay field we were hunting. My father had seen him on two other hunts on the other side of the farm in the last two weeks. I seen him on Sunday afternoon, he wouldn’t give me a shoot because he was chasing a doe. He came out where we wasn’t expected him to come from. But he was heading straight to the hayfield the same way the 7-point came through the hedges that separated the two fields. When he came into the hayfield I made about a 50-yard shot on him and he only ran about 60 yards farther into the field and fail over. This 10-pointer was my first ever buck.
