Hunt Story
Hunting a double ladder stand on the back of our property. Watching a 20-acre 2-year-old clearcut. The other property is thick bedding area. I had seen a 4-pointer at 7:15, then nothing til 9:15 when a huge nanny doe brought this big boy in. He came off adjoining property chasing her. They stopped at 20 yards, and because he was locked on her, I was able to swing the muzzleloader around and put the crosshairs on his shoulder and squeeze the trigger. He ran straight behind me in a thicket about 40 yards and I heard him crash. I waited maybe 20 minutes before going to find him. I was down at the club by myself so had to call some reinforcements to help me get him out. We've had trail pics of this deer for the last 2 months. Earliest I have ever had a buck in rut chasing a doe. Normally it's another two weeks before we start seeing this kinda activity. Hope everyone has some luck and stay safe out there.
