Hunt Story

I was planning to hunt from 11:30 a.m. until dark. No deer activity until 5:00 p.m. when 4 smaller bucks were feeding in the roadway. The young bucks became alert and started looking down into the woods. That is when I noticed another buck in the woods. I could not see his points but knew it was a larger buck by the way the younger bucks were acting. Soon the younger bucks ran into the woods and the larger buck started posturing. As he made his way toward the other bucks I noticed there were five points on one side. I took my rifle off the shooting sticks and leaned out of my blind to be able to see the deer. The larger buck started walking away deeper into the woods and offered me a quartering away shot on the left side. When I fired my rifle he went up in the air, did a 180-degree turn and landed on the ground. Ten minutes later I was standing over the largest buck I have ever harvested.
