Hunt Story

After hunting all day Saturday except for a 1.5 hour break for lunch and seeing a few deer moving, we knew this morning might be the one (we’ve thought that for many years). We got up at 5:30 got ready and went to the box stand on the creek we’ve been hunting for 11 years :). My daddy wanted to hunt with me to see if we could finally get a good buck — over the years we have missed up a few times. 🙂 Just a little after daylight a doe came running across the creek and just like that, he showed up in the thick and I got my crosshairs behind his shoulder and squeezed the trigger. He just kept running, we heard him hit the creek above us and we hurried down to go after him. To our excitement there he was in about knee deep water on the other side. After celebrating, we got the ropes out of the 4-wheeler and started working on trying to pull him across the creek and up a 10-foot bank, an hour later we had my deer and couldn’t believe that it finally happened 🙂
