Hunt Story

After driving home from a vacation at the beach with my family Sunday, I realized I had enough time to make it to the stand for a quick evening hunt. I settled in the stand at 3:15 p.m. Sunday evening, and I have to say I was really exhausted from vacation. But it wasn't long before the rain and the deer showed up. I was sitting there getting wet watching several does feed around and a couple of smaller bucks when I saw all the deer become very alert, looking back toward the back food plot. Then I saw what the concern was for. He stepped out about 150 yards, and I was wishing I had my muzzleloader, but it didn't take long before he was 38 yards away and broadside. I let him settle in for a minute, and then I took the shot. He ran about 15 yards and laid down in sight of my stand. Needless to say, I was very excited.
