Hunt Story

At 5:30 a.m. I was going to leave, but because it was 31 degrees I went back to bed. By 8:15 I was in the stand, which was located in an oval-shaped field surrounded by planted pines. The only thing the deer had to eat was wild rye and native grasses. At 8:45 a doe walked out followed by a small buck, but because the sun was in my eyes I could not tell how many points it had. They walked on into the woods. Later another doe followed the first two deer. About 30 minutes later a young 4-point buck trotted out of the woods and turned across the field to my left. About 20 minutes later a doe came out to my right and crossed the field entering the woods to my right. At 10:20 a doe walked out to my left and crossed the field entering the woods to my left. Five minutes later the buck stepped out and started running following the trail of the doe. I yelled "bah" trying to get it to stop, but it kept running so I shot. After waiting 30 minutes, I climbed down and walked to where I thought the buck was when I shot it. Finding no blood I walked into the woods following a game trail. After about 10 minutes I found the buck. That's it!
