Hunt Story

My dad and I arrived at our hunting club right at daylight. As we were walking to our box stand, a buck ran off from a white oak tree close to our stand. We couldn't tell the size of the buck, but we knew it was one. We just knew it was going to be a good morning. We got settled into our stand, and the woods started to come alive. We had all kinds of wildlife around us. Around 8:00 a.m., my dad got my attention to the long shooting lane that we have down an old logging road. A doe stepped out then another until there were four in our shooting lane. As we were watching them, I noticed movement in another shooting lane toward the river slough. We both knew he was a shooter. I placed my rifle out the window and got settled in for the shot. I pulled the trigger; and he fell in his tracks. We were both excited as this was my best buck to date.
