Hunt Story
We got in the box stand about 4 pm and got settled up. Around 5 pm a spike entered the field from the northwest. After about 10 minutes he started watching the edge of the field to the east of our stand. Through the planted pines, we could see another deer working his way toward the 1.5-acre food plot. Once the buck got to the edge of the field, Hadleigh immediately recognized the buck from trail-cam pics we got earlier in the season. We had nicknamed him "George". We knew that George was a buck she would definitely shoot if given the chance, so Hadleigh immediately started getting ready for the shot. After a couple of minutes, he stepped into the field and immediately turned broadside. Hadleigh made a perfect heart shot at about 115 yards. We saw him go down on the edge of the woods about 20 yards from the edge of the field. We waited about 25 minutes then went to recover Hadleigh's largest buck so far. It was a great way to end the season.
