Hunt Story

I LEFT WORK TO PICK MY KIDS UP, BROUGHT THEM BACK TO MY PARENTS HOUSE, AND THEN HEADED FOR THE STAND. I MADE IT TO THE STAND JUST BEFORE 5 PM. THE WIND WAS CALM WITH A SLIGHT OVERCAST. THERE WAS A FEW DROPS OF RAIN BUT NOTHING TO BRAG ABOUT. OTHER THAN A FEW SQUIRRELS RUNNING AROUND AND BARKING, THE WOODS WERE VERY QUIET. I'M HUNTING OVER A FOOD PLOT WITH OATS AND TURNIPS. THE DEER STEPPED OUT RIGHT AT 5:30 PM. I MADE THE SHOT AND HE DROPPED IN HIS TRACKS. I GAVE HIM A FEW MINUTES TO MAKE SURE HE WASN'T GOING TO GET UP AND THEN CLIMBED DOWN AND WENT TO CHECK ON THE HIM. AFTER MAKING SURE HE HAD EXPIRED, I CALLED MY DAD TO HELP ME LOAD HIM IN THE TRUCK.
