Hunt Story
After a slow morning in the stand, the wind started to pick up mid-morning, making a tall tree stand not fun. I got down about 9:30 and headed for the house. I was walking toward the house and decided to check some stored items in area we keep extra trailers and stuff. I was about to look in an old boat, and 10 feet behind the boat, up stands the big boy we named "Peterbilt". We have watched this deer all summer on the the trail cameras. He was on the hit list, just didn't think he would be laying a 150 yards from the back door. He stood and stared at me, with us in a standoff. He ran in a big loop around only to stop just before he hit the wood line. He made one final look to see what spooked him, giving me a shot at 75 yards broadside. I made a freehand shot and a good hit. I let him lay for about 45 minutes and then made a slow track to find him 35 yards into the thick stuff.
