Hunt Story
Was to be a quick hunt the afternoon before Thanksgiving. Climbed into stand a few minutes before 5 pm; within 2 minutes the buck stepped into food plot, just grazing, no other deer observed. I assessed him via binoculars, then naked eye to ensure binos weren't exaggerating his size and character. I saw what appeared to be an extra main beam/unusual point protruding from base of left antler, plus heavy palmation of main beam. I decided he was a shooter under my family's QDM standards. He dropped in his tracks to .308 Win.; I typically shoot a .25-06, but grabbed the .308 today. My best-ever nontypical in nearly 50 years of Georgia deer hunting. An early Thanksgiving!
