Hunt Story
I hung a stand around 1:00 that Friday near a big ravine. It was also close to a newly discovered coyote den hole. Went back in around 3:30 for the afternoon hunt with my AR15 to hopefully get a doe and some coyotes. Around 4:15 the buck came in from my left to the small lane I cleared earlier. I put my red dot on him and click (dry fire). Ejected the cartridge and released my bolt carrier (BAM), and he ran the same way he came in, as expected. I waited 10 minutes or so and started grunting and bleating. I could hear a deer circling behind me but didn’t think it was him. Low an behold he comes out to the right of me 20 minutes later and back to the exact same spot as the dry fire. I again put the red dot on him and Boom he drops in his tracks in a 6-foot ditch. First shot busted his front shoulder, and he couldn’t get to his feet. I could tell I needed to get down to get another shot on him to finish him off. So that is what I did.
