Hunt Story
I got in a tripod stand in a small grove of white oak trees mixed with other species about 4:30 P.M. The wind was blowing about 10-15 mph out of NNW. I saw a doe about 15 minutes after I got in the stand followed by five more about five o'clock. A spike came up and chased those does around for several minutes. When they left, a 6-point came out about 5:15, pawed out a fresh scrape about 20 yards in front of my stand, and chewed on a licking branch. He walked off, and about 10 minutes later the buck I shot popped out of the high grass 10 yards to my right. He walked by the front of my stand at 10 yards. I shot him right behind the shoulder, and he ran 40 yards and dropped in the grass on my left.
