Hunt Story
This was the first day I had a chance to hunt all year. My work schedule and family events have prevented me from hunting before Nov. 9. I got in the stand around 3:45 p.m. It had been raining for about 3 hours, but I felt like the deer would be up on their feet if the rain stopped. Around 4:15 p.m. the rain stopped, and 30 minutes later this buck stepped into the food plot. He was 175 yards when I squeezed a round off and watched him run 75 yards and pile up. Filled with excitement, I put my rifle down and started to text my wife to tell her I had just shot a buck when I looked up and watched him stand up and walk off like nothing ever happened. He made it to the wood line before I could get another shot off. Not wanting to push him, I decided to wait 1 hour before I started looking for him. At 5:45, I got out of the stand and began tracking him. I located blood where he was standing at the time of the shot and where he piled up. From there, he made it approximately 60 yards inside the wood line where I found him bedded in a pine top. I took a moment to thank God I was able to recover my buck.
