Hunt Story

I got to the woods late and was carrying a piece of burlap to cover the stand. I covered the stand as quickly as possible and got still. At 6:40 a doe came out of the opening of trees and walked through my shooting lane. I watched her work her way up the tree line and thought hard about shooting her. I decided to wait to see what happened. About two minutes later I see antlers stick out of the opening. I picked my gun up. I had to steady myself on the shooting rail, I was shaking so bad. I took the shot, watched the deer run into the trees and make one big hop. I said a prayer to thank God and called my husband to tell him I just shot the biggest deer I have ever shot or I was going to cry all the way home. He told me to wait 10 minutes and go look for blood, I only lasted 6. I get to the spot where he was standing and I found no blood. My husband pulled up and I showed him where he was when I shot and told him I thought I missed. He reassured me it was a good shot because he heard it hit. We finally found a tiny piece of lung. I was pumped because I knew I had a solid shot. A few minutes my husband found my deer. He was tangled into a briar thicket. He had only run about 10 yards.
