Hunt Story
I was in my stand at 4 p.m. Monday, Nov. 7. At 5:15, I saw movement in the thicket to my right. Five minutes later I saw movement again. I decided to grunt a couple of times. Next thing I see is this buck coming out. At 22 yards, I let my arrow fly. I knew it was a hit, and he ran back into the thicket. I heard a lot of crashing, and then nothing. Waited 5 minutes, then checked my arrow. Blood was everywhere. I called my wife and asked her to send my grandsons. We went to the blood trail and 50 to 60 yards later we found the buck. What a thrill. At 6:50 p.m. I reported the deer to Game Check. I have used vanilla extract as a cover scent after reading about it in GON, and it works great. I hunt with a crossbow all the time unless someone takes me to open area of 100 yards. I love GON. Tons of info. William Scott. 11-13-16
