Lake Worth
Lake Worth, also known as Lake Chehaw, is a small reservoir at the confluence of the Flint River, Kinchafoonee Creek and Muckalee Creek. The concrete Flint River Dam was built in 1908 for hydroelectric generation and is owned by Georgia Power today. Lake Chehaw is very riverine and shallow with average depths of 17 feet. In winter, the lake is drawn down nearly 10 feet in anticipation of flooding spring rains. In the Flood of 1994, the lake overflowed its banks and the dam itself was underwater at one point.

On Friday, March 8, Fisheries biologists were on the river using electro-shocking gear and found no white bass. But…
Since Lake Oconee first filled with water in 1979, I’ve seen a lot of changes take place on this middle Georgia lake, some good, some not so good. I’ve been guiding on Lake Oconee since 1980 and watched as the changes slowly took place. In the early 1980s, Lake Oconee was a lake with miles…

With all the praise and positive publicity that’s been given to Rockdale County’s 650-acre Black Shoals reservoir, many anglers have overlooked the better-than-average chance to get your arm broke just a few miles west at Brooks Lake. It’s public, it’s cheap, it’s very accessible, and…
Not everyone can afford to buy and maintain a boat. Don’t let it get you down. There’s people out there by the truckloads who don’t own a boat, and they’re not letting it stop them from catching a cooler-full of fish. They just take a bucket, plop themselves down on it and do their fishing…
It really was like playing musical chairs as a kid. There were three of us that kept circling the floor of a white, 23-foot Carolina Skiff. Each of us was eyeing the other, wondering which lucky angler would be positioned just right when the music stopped, or as was the case, which one would be…
