Lake Worth

Lake Worth, also known as Lake Chehaw, is a small reservoir at the confluence of the Flint River, Kinchafoonee Creek and Muckalee Creek. The concrete Flint River Dam was built in 1908 for hydroelectric generation and is owned by Georgia Power today. Lake Chehaw is very riverine and shallow with average depths of 17 feet. In winter, the lake is drawn down nearly 10 feet in anticipation of flooding spring rains. In the Flood of 1994, the lake overflowed its banks and the dam itself was underwater at one point.

And while often overlooked, the tidal portion of the Altamaha River near Brunswick is a great place to pursue crappie. During the mid-1990s while fishing the Altamaha River out of Altamaha Regional Park, I frequently…

Target February Spots For Success On Lake Russell

Each time I go to Lake Russell, I am impressed with its beautiful, clear green water, and good bass fishing. Big Crankbaits On Shallow Oconee Docks

Robbie Sowash wanted to be on the water right at 7 o’clock. “Daylight,” I thought. “Is there an early bite on Oconee? It’s mid January.” I must confess. It had been quite a while since my feet were planted on the deck of a boat while I chunked bass lures into my home waters of…

Marsh Redfish On Bass Tactics

Georgia is both blessed and cursed with its thousands of acres of marshes. We are blessed by the abundance of fish living in the sinuous rivers and creeks winding through the marshes and cursed by the nasty little sand gnats that thrive there. This month, the little curses will be almost non-existent due to cold…
