Lake Worth
Lake Worth, also known as Lake Chehaw, is a small reservoir at the confluence of the Flint River, Kinchafoonee Creek and Muckalee Creek. The concrete Flint River Dam was built in 1908 for hydroelectric generation and is owned by Georgia Power today. Lake Chehaw is very riverine and shallow with average depths of 17 feet. In winter, the lake is drawn down nearly 10 feet in anticipation of flooding spring rains. In the Flood of 1994, the lake overflowed its banks and the dam itself was underwater at one point.

You don’t second-guess the word. We had launched the boats at the Sugar Creek ramp, and although my fishing partner knew there were some crappie back in Sugar, the word was there was a good bite up the Apalachee. They fight better than they eat… and they eat good! The hybrid bass has become one of the favorite freshwater game fish in Georgia waters. This fish, which is a cross between white and striped bass, is an excellent fighter, pound for pound, and can also provide some good table fare. The Georgia WRD Fisheries…
Lanier’s magnum spotted bass bite just fine in November — in fact this month can produce some great fishing for these hard-fighting, eating machines. Some Georgia anglers worry that November is difficult time to fish Lake Lanier. This normally gin-clear body of water takes on an almost coffee-colored hue at times during this late fall…
During the early winter months as water temperatures drop into the low 50s on Georgia reservoirs, large schools of baitfish, like threadfin shad, move off the main lake and into the coves and creeks. This massive migration of bait is followed closely by concentrations of larger fish that move along under the schools and feed…
