Bartletts Ferry Fishing Report – May 2023

GON Staff | April 26, 2023

Bartletts Ferry: Level: 2 feet below 521. Temp: Low 70s. Clarity: Light stain in the river, Halawaka Creek is clear.

Bass: According to Tyler Morgan with Summerlin Outdoors, May is a tough transition month with postspawn bass recovering from bedding. “Make a lot of casts. Target seawalls early with topwater. There may still be a little shad spawn early in the month, and some bass will feed on crayfish and bluegill later. Also, look for bream beds. Poppers, buzzbaits and walking baits will draw bites. Stick with the mouths of spawning pockets and work all cover on them with a wacky-rigged Senko. Also, skip jigs under docks in 5 to 6 feet of water. Watch for males guarding fry, some will be 3-pounders. They will hit poppers or wacky rigs. Current on the river will position spots on rocks and make them easier to catch on shaky heads, wacky rigs or topwater,” Tyler said.
