Bartletts Ferry Fishing Report – March 2023

GON Staff | March 2, 2023

Bartletts Ferry: Level: 0.7 feet below 521. Temp: 60-62 degrees. Clarity: Light stain in the river, clear on lower lake and Halawakee Creek.

Bass: According to tournament angler Tyler Morgan with Summerlin Outdoors, fish main-lake coves and pockets mid to lower lake since they warm earlier.  Start just inside the mouth and work around until you find how far back they have moved. Skip Arkie head jigs and wacky-rigged Senkos under shallow docks for prespawn fish close to spawning. Concentrate on water 2 to 4 feet deep. Some fish will bed on the full moon around March 7, so be on the lookout. Later in the month, fish the backs of the coves and pockets and keep a Texas-rigged creature bait ready to fish spawners. Many will be on the bed the very end of the month. Keep a buzzbait tied on anytime the water is in the upper 60s. When the inevitable cold front comes through, move out and fish the mid to outer half of the pockets and fish a little deeper, hitting water 5 to 10 feet deep. Work the shade under docks thoroughly.”
