Georgia Passes Constitutional Carry
The 2nd Amendment is now your concealed carry permit in Georgia.

Legislators in Georgia have passed “Constitutional Carry.” Citizens will no longer have to go through a local process to get a permit to carry a concealed weapon—and potentially be delayed or denied—based on the politics of a particular county or law enforcement agency.
Georgia Governor Brian Kemp said, “For law-abiding Georgians, their carry permit is the 2nd Amendment. I’m proud to have worked alongside leaders in the General Assembly to get Constitutional Carry over the finish line, and I look forward to signing it into law.”
UPDATE: Gov. Kemp signed the legislation into law April 12, 2022.

The other 24 constitutional carry states are Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, West Virginia and Wyoming.
The concept of constitutional carry is simple. It recognizes the right of a law-abiding adult, who is legally allowed to carry a concealed firearm, to do so without first having to obtain government permission. This ensures that citizens have the right to self-defense without government red tape or delays. Additionally, this legislation maintains the existing concealed handgun license system, so citizens who still wish to obtain a permit may do so, which may be needed when carrying a gun in other states. Since we no longer need a ga ccw, are wee going to have to have a background check when purchasing firearms from now on. As you know; we are currently not required to have a background check run on those of us possessing a Ga CCW, because it substitutes for the BG check. Does anyone have valid data on this part of the legislation?
The new law (once it’s signed and in effect) applies to any adult legally allowed to own a gun. You’ll be able to carry your handgun open or concealed.
The CCW system won’t change, and those who pay the fee to get a concealed permit will have more privileges. For example, showing the permit will continue to let the purchaser skip the background checks at shops.
Secondly, it will allow the permit holder to continue concealing in states that still require a permit (like Florida, the Carolinas, etc.). Many other states still require a permit and most recognize a permit from Georgia.
Those without the permit will be fine in Georgia, but will be breaking the law as soon as they cross state lines in some directions.
