Lake Blue Ridge Fishing Report July 2015

GON Staff | June 25, 2015

Blue Ridge: Level: Full pool. Temp: 80-83 degrees. Clarity: Clear.

Bass: Guide Eric Welch reports, “We are catching fish in the mornings and afternoons on Strike King Sexy Dogs and Zara Spooks. Once the sun gets up, we’re catching bass on drop shots, shaky heads and jigs in 8 to 30 feet of water. I’m targeting shady docks, step bank lines and lay downs. The bass are scattered on main-lake points due to all the boat traffic. I’m using my electronics to target a lot of the fish we’re catching. If you’re running electronics on the front of your boat with down scan, I highly recommend keeping it on split screen—sonar and down scan. You will be amazed with the extra fish you will find. The few smallmouth we’ve been catching have been mostly on jigs and tube baits on rocky step points and areas that have white rocks.”
