Lake Blue Ridge Fishing Report June 2015

Blue Ridge: Level: Full pool. Temp: 78 degrees. Clarity: Clear.

Bass: Guide Eric Crowley reports, “What a great month May was. With spawning bait and feeding fish everywhere, it’s the kinda thing that will spoil you. We had been targeting fish on the rip-rap scattered around the lake that was holding bluebacks, but that’s all over now. Looks like the bait has spread out, and the fish are following them. The smallmouth—what’s left of them—will follow the bait out in open water and suspend below them. They will either feed by moonlight or at first light at dawn, and then drop back down to the cooler water. Haven’t seen a good topwater bite as of yet on the main lake but should be soon. Other than that, fish the usual—fish attractors, docks with lights, shaded points and grassy areas in the creeks. Lots of spotted bass in the 1- to 2-lb. range are everywhere and will eat just about anything. Remember, DNR would like everyone to take home and eat the spotted bass they catch.”
