GON Freelance Writer Inducted Into Georgia Hunting and Fishing Hall Of Fame

Two Georgia outdoor writers were recently entered into the Georgia Hunting and Fishing Hall of Fame. Jimmy Jacobs, a native of Atlanta, and John Trussell, of Warner Robins, were inducted at the annual Georgia Outdoor Writers Association meeting held recently in St. Marys.

The Georgia Hunting and Fishing Hall of Fame is housed at the Charlie Elliot Wildlife Center in Mansfield and recognizes outdoor writers and other noted outdoor individuals who have shown a lifelong commitment to promoting and preserving Georgia’s outdoors and its hunting and fishing heritages.

John has been a freelance writer for GON nearly since its beginning in 1987. John wrote the Sunday outdoor column for the Warner Robins Daily Sun for 14 years. He was instrumental in working on the committee to establish Flat Creek PFA in Houston County. John also founded and led the conservation group Save Oaky Woods.

Previous inductees into the Hall of Fame are George Perry, Charlie Elliott, Dean Wohlgemuth, Jack Wingate, Jack Crockford and Leon Scott.

Next year’s inductees will be radio host O’Neill Williams and GON Publisher Steve Burch.
