Hunt Story

I was hunting with my dad. We saw a 4-point and I think a 6-point not long after daylight that I could not get a shot at. They were both behind us. Then, about an hour later we saw a lot of does come through. Seven of them were in front of us for a while and some were behind us. A little after 9:00, I started talking too much and my dad asked if I was ready to go. I said yes. He told me to unload the gun before we climb down. Then, he said he wanted to show me how to get turned around without a deer seeing me so I could shoot one behind me since I was not able to get a shot at the bucks earlier this morning. We traded seats and he was showing me how to be sneaky and turn around slowly. Then, he said “Lane, there is a big buck following a doe coming our way.” I thought he was kidding but then I turned around and saw them. My dad re-loaded the gun. The buck stayed behind the doe and then stopped between two trees for a little bit and I was able to get a shot. We saw him run a short ways and stop. My dad said “shoot him again,” but then we saw him fall down. Then, my dad said we needed to wait about 30 minutes so we waited and then walked straight to him. This was my first deer!
