Hunt Story
I saw this deer on Sunday afternoon from my back porch. It was about 5:15 p.m. So I tried to sneak into my ground blind at the back of our chicken houses, but the deer had walked into the edge of the woods. I could see him walking around but he never came back out. I sat and watched a couple of smaller bucks but nothing that I wanted to take a shot at. So on Monday, I had football practice and the coach let us out a little early. I got home about 5:45 p.m. I ran into the house grabbed my orange vest and rubber boots and hurried down to get in the ground blind where I saw the buck the day before. He was already out in the field with two smaller bucks. I couldn’t get a shot at first, then after a few minutes he finally stepped out from the others and I shot. He fell immediately. I hit him in the spine. I called my dad and told him that I hit the buck and he was down but was trying to get back up. Dad said to take one more shot. Just as I shot the buck tried to get up and I hit his horn on the left side. I was able to to walk a little closer and shot him in the shoulder.
